The Lithuanians made war round Toropets, and Yaroslav with the men of Novgorod went in pursuit of them as far as [lake] Vosvyat, but did not catch them.

The battle of Samara Bend with Mongols. Near Samara an advance guard of Genghis Khan's army under command of Uran, son of Subutai Bahadur, entered Volga Bulgaria but was defeated in the battle of Samara Bend.
Raid to Estonia. Knyaz Yaroslav came from his brother and went with all the province to Kolyvan (Tallinn), and conquered the whole Chud land (Estonia), and brought back countless plunder, but did not take the town; they took much gold, and returned all well.
Estonia. Battle of Viljandi. The Sackalians with Novgorodians attacked the Germans inside the stronghold of Viljandi. They killed Sword-Brothers, vartels, merchants and even Mauritius, the vogt of Viljandi. The rest of the Germans were put in stocks and shackles. Some men advanced on to the stronghold of Leole, were they told others to do the same. Subsequently, the same Sackalians took Hebbe, the vogt of Järvamaa, and brought him to Viljandi. The heart of a still-alive Hebbe was torn out of his chest, baked on fire and eaten ritually, in order to "become strong in the fight against the Christians".
